Thang Khai's family situation in Myanmar

According to Bnionline news agency,  "Over the past three years since the coup, the Junta's indiscriminate attacks have led to the destruction of more than 190 religious, health, and educational facilities in Chin State, according to the Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO).

On May 26, CHRO revealed that from the Junta's coup in early February 2021 until May 2024, the regime deliberately conducted airstrikes, arson, and shelling targeting religious sites including churches, healthcare facilities, schools and other educational centers in Chin State, employing these actions as a heinous military tactic."

The following is from our Music Director, who has family living in this area.

"Dear Church Family,

Ever since the military coup in 2021, the people of Myanmar have been fighting to regain the freedom they lost. While conflicts have erupted in many parts of the country, my hometown of Tedim, where my mother, brothers, and sisters live, has been relatively safe compared to other areas. However, last Sunday, Tedim experienced battles between the Peoples Defense Army (PDF) and Myanmar Junta soldiers, including airstrikes, which resulted in casualties and damage to houses. The Junta Soldiers resorted to burning civilian houses, forcing many people to flee for their lives. God miraculously answered prayers, and the heavy rain helped extinguish the fire after over 30 houses had been destroyed; otherwise, my hometown would have been completely devastated.

I am grateful to report that despite the devastation, none of my family members were injured. However, our family-owned clothing shop was completely burned down. Miraculously, the other shop we own remained unharmed, despite being surrounded by smoke. The ongoing violence has created a challenging and dangerous environment for residents of Tedim, contributing to a broader humanitarian crisis in the region.

In light of these crises, my family was faced with the difficult decision to leave their homes and belongings behind and seek refuge in a safer place.

As they continue to navigate this challenging situation, I humbly ask for your ongoing prayers for my family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they work towards recovery and healing.

In Christ,

Thang Khai"
